See my pinned post on here in the comments. Once the controls are put in you need to switch it to "Simplified" when flying in Ab and RB. This will stop you from stalling out and all the Sim mode features. Give me a message back if you need any other help. Sincerely Dez

What mode are you playing? Arcade, Realistic, or Sim? If your flying in AB or RB, After you get everything in , make sure you change over to the "Simplified" tab. When in Controls/aircraft at the top of that page you will see " pointer aim, Simplified, realistic, full real, and that is what I mean by Simplified. To put the controls in we use the realistic tab because it gives you more controls to set, however once you have them in you can switch it to the other tabs to change the flight Physics. Simplified will turn off the spins and stalls which is what your experiencing. When you go and fly in Full sim battles this is part of the game but in the other modes AB and RB just make sure it is on the Simplified tab. If you need any more help, let me know. Sincerely Dez

@Desode I believe I figured it out. The only thing I did differently was the D pad configuration for gear and opening bomb bay. But man! You are a life saver and I also gave tbis video to other friends for help.

Well, I am a prop flyer when it comes to airplanes, so I pretty much never fly jets. I do fly Helicopters in vr though. For me, since props are pretty simple weapons wise, I run RT for all main guns and RB for rockets and X is for bombs and X also is for opening a Bombay door. Pretty simple layout on that stuff. Since I use a Xbox elite 2.0 controller, I put the x button also on my bottom right side paddle so that I can keep both thumbs on the sticks and still drop a bomb. Another thing you can do is now that you have all the controls from the video put into the game,, save a copy of all that in the game, so if a update comes along and it would wipe your controls you can just then reload them into the game.. I highly advise doing that! Lol. Plus you can then make a layout for different airplanes and save that under a different name (say name it by the aircraft) whenever you are flying that certain plane that requires more programming of the weapons controls you can then just load that controller scheme. For example if I am going to fly a dedicated strike aircraft with limited cannon rounds and I don't want to waste those cannon rounds in a dog fight because I want them for ground vehicle attack runs, I then load the controller scheme for that certain aircraft and I have it set up differently than my standard layout. On some planes it's nice to have different stuff saved as a controller profile just for that plane and its purposes. Most Sincerely Dez

@tene3377 I use a xbox elite series 2 controller. I have the bottom left front paddle setup as a engage throttle button and I have the brake set so that when I pull the throttle all the way back then the brake engages. Also have that paddle set to engage the throttle which let's you use that left stick for rudder and not be accidentally messing with your throttle position while in a dog fight and using the rudder. This helps a tremendous amount. That's a free tip for ya. Sincerely Dez.

Not yet, Dialing in a new full layout for Helicopter's, and ground right now. I don't fly jets much, but they are on the list to get too. Hoping to have an entire new updated layout in the future that will cover everything except naval.

@Mike make sure your on the tab in the video at the top on the aircraft control area. If memory serves me it should have a dead zone under each individual axis. @Mike I double checked this for you today. You have to set the deadzones individually in each axis, so you go to "Pitch axis" under aircraft controls, then select "edit axis" while Pitch axis is highlighted in the controls list. Once in there you will see "dead zone" this dead zone setting there will only change it for your Pitch axis. Then once you have set it, and back out of there, you will be asked to "add, replace, cancel" You need to always select "Add" because war thunder has multiple vehicles so when you click "add" here it only changes it for a certain vehicle that you are working on, be it aircraft, helicopter, ground vehicle and so on. If you do not select "add" after making any changes in the controls when asked, then the game will cancel what you just changed and you will go back to before the change with no warning. It then appears that what you changed made no difference. A lot of people get confused by this because they think if they click" add" it will overwrite other vehicle controls. Try that and let me know. Sincerely Dez

@The Purple Bandit Just do the LT and ignore the LS part. 300,000+ views and you caught this one that I never noticed before. Salute on that. I believe I was testing something else at the time. I double checked for you and all you need is LT assigned. If you need anything else, post a message and I will get back to ya. Remember that after you get all the controls in and they are all working, to then switch the tab at the top to simplified if you play air Arcade or air RB as this will prevent you from stalls and spins. The controls in the video, limit the sway as much as possible but it is dependent on the mode your flying in? What mode do you fly in? Arcade, Realistic, or Simulation? If flying in AB or RB make sure AFTER the controls are put in that you change the top tab under Aircraft controls to "Simplified" Simplified uses a AI to help you fly and limits the sway, But note that the "simplified" tab cannot be used when flying in Simulation game modes and if a Simulation mode is selected the game will automatically switch to the "Full real controls" and if you have the Simplified tab on when you go and play a AB or RB mode it will Auto select "Simplified". I am out of town for the weekend but I will message on here when I get back first of the week. I can help you with everything except the jets as I don't fly jets. Lol. The only thing that has changed is the jet controls. Everything else still matches the video. Note,,, always click add after you put in a control when it prompts you, as the game has multiple vehicles, if you don't click add it will not save the change you made and leave the control blank. That is probably why things are not reacting when you go it to fly. If need be and your still having problems when I get back , we will get on chat in xbox and I will guide you through the setup. In the controls at the top of the screen you will see the different tabs. When you scroll up to those tabs you can select them. Just know that the tabs are based on the mode you play in. You can however use "Simplified " in realistic modes. If you add controls under the full Sim tab all of those will work in lower modes or in the other tabs,, like realistic and even arcade, however you don't want to have full Sim tab on when in realistic as that will make you play realistic with full Sim settings and physics. The games flight physics are linked to the tabs. Give me a yell on here if you need anything. Sincerely Dez

You got me stumped on that one. It has been years since I did the tutorial for Sim. Pretty much any usb keyboard will work on Xbox, so the best advice I can give you is to get a usb keyboard and try it. It also may be worth asking WT support via their official web site. Sim is great! It just has a big learning curve so don't give up when you do finally get in there. Sincerely, Dez

@@chamo_in_da_house540 Stick with it! Find a plane you like and learn that plane well. The flight models are all fully on in SIM, so no two planes are a like! The WWII Flight models are based off of the Old IL2 Sturmovik 1946 game and are pretty spot on to their real life aircraft. Enough so that you can watch the Old military Training videos for the real plane and perform the maneuvers they taught. What do you want to change? Xbox version doesn't have much for graphics settings compared to the PC version.

Very glad to hear this helped you out! Yes Battlefield had options to fly like a Radio controlled aircraft is flown, so these pretty much fit with what you were looking for. First: the wiggle is as dialed out as much as possible. Make sure that once you have all the controls in from the video and working that you then switch the top tab to "simplified " this setting does bring the AI flight system on, so it will manage some of the aircraft systems and help with the wiggle a little more. Idk why but the wiggle is on any controller or flight stick input because those inputs activate more of the games simulation physics. Mouse does not have the wiggle but also mouse can not do true flight maneuvers either so it's a trade off. Trust me these setting are from hundreds of hours of tweaking to get as much as possible of the wiggle gone. Also note that each of the tabs at the top "pointer aim, simplified, realistic and full control, Each represent the different modes you can play in the game and each of these tabs, depending on which is selected, will turn on different levels of the Aircraft physics. Pointer aim = mouse style. Simplified = arcade mode physics and realistic game modes. REALISTIC TAB= more physics but turns off the AI flight system that protects you from stalls and spins and engine management stuff. Full real = Full on simulation aircraft physics and you are in full control but! Every plane is its own flight model under this tab and it is EXTREMELY complex. Don't use it unless you want to get into war thunders Simulation game modes. If you set the tab to simplified it will stay there unless you play the simulation game mode. When in that game mode ONLY the full real tab is used and the game will automatically turn that tab on when you go into the simulation game mode. So each of those tabs is how the game controls its Physics level based on the different game modes because of their levels of difficulty. SECOND: relative control makes the analog stick or any input work like a throttle stick does in real life by letting you move the stick to increase a percentage and then you must move the opposite to bring the percentage back. You can use it also on buttons and with a keyboard so that you can dial it in,, to just tape the key/button to increase or decrease the percentage in any amount based on the sensitivity in that area when relative is on. I hope this helps you understand it all a little better. It is a very complex system because when WaR thunder started out there was no mouse and it was originally more of a Aircraft only simulation game. I use combinations of buttons, I figure that is kind of up to each person's preference. Know that you can also plug in many usb keyboards and use that to program buttons also. Personally, I use the left bumper as a button switch so that when it is held down then I can use every button on the controller again in the combination. As for location, not I am not in PA but I have the eastern draw in my voice. PA, OH, Indiana, we all talk our own way. LOL

When you put these in you need to click "add" when your prompted for that,,, especially on axis controls (When you back out of the axis screen it will ask you this.). Since WT has multiple vehicles, you can bind multiple controls to one thing and that makes this confusing. Occasionally some people miss clicking "add" after binding something and if you don't click Add it will not save the bind. Also if your flying in AB or RB, After you get everything in , make sure you change over to the "Simplified" tab. @@md-8061 Rudder as done in the video would be left stick right and left. If your playing arcade then once you have the controls put in and saved,,,, switch the tab in the top of air controls to simplified. If your flying in arcade and rb matches always use the Simplified tab. If you later on fly in Sim the game will Automatically change the tab. The reason the video uses the tab it shows is because there are more controls in that tab! When you are done putting them in and you switch the tab to simplified you will have controls programmed that still work under simplified. To test the rudder go into test flight with a plane and go to 3rd person view and look at the tail. The tail will move,, if it doesn't then recheck the video and add the rudder again. Make sure to always click "add" when prompted after putting in a control or it will not save it. Sincerely Dez

@@md-8061 I check this every day or so, may take me a day to respond but I always do as long as someone wants help and is polite.

It's not,,,there are hidden sections that many people miss. Under aircraft controls there are multiple tabs at the top. You have to change to the correct tab. The more complex control under the other tabs used for Sim controls that are not listed in the default tab. When put in these control work in all tabs even though they are not listed. Please double check the tab. I am here to help of you want the help.

The tabs are as follows: mouse aim (pointer aim) , Simplified, Realistic controls, Full-real controls. Full real has the most options. This is the reason other player will destroy new players. They have ALL the controls set up and are even using Full engine management to open radiators and things of that nature so they have UNLIMITED water ejection (WEP). If you want to be competitive in WT you need to at the very least, where all the control options are.

@@ontariomotorsport7038 It kind of depends on the mode. While I have players that use a controller for Air arcade battles that is the most difficult to do in my opinion with a controller. Ground arcade and ground rb and Sim battles both air and ground are the best modes for a controller. Air rb is very doable but it takes aircraft knowledge to do well with a controller vs mouse and controller has a wobble that mouse does not have. I don't play a lot of Air rb these days but I used to play it a lot before xbox got Sim mode added. If you have any questions or there is anything I can do to help I am here to do so. War thunder is still a PC game on console and trust me I know it is a daunting task adjusting controls and inputs. Just know that this is pretty mild compared to other pc flight games when it comes to putting in controls. If you don't mind my asking what modes in War thunder do you want to play mostly?? @@ontariomotorsport7038 Also do note that Xbox supports mouse and keyboard if that is what you wish to use. Pretty much all mouse and keyboards are plug and play on the Xbox now so you don't need a tablet to play WT on xbox that way if you prefer to try that.

@@Desode i am becoming a huge fan of aviation on general lately. So definitely going to focus on that. The sheer amount of historically accurate planes in this game is off the charts. And the crash physics and such. Don't even get that in Microsoft Flight simulator

@@Desode yeah I made the changes in realistic and then put them in simplified, I just feel like my grandma trying to play Minecraft, very disoriented.

@@Desode I was fine playing until I got a 3.7 plane with the rest of my 1.7 planes and kept getting shot down so I had to stop using that plane but that’s another story. I usually play Air Arcade or Assault because you can’t respawn in RBs.

@@phoenixalexander8310 Ah. OK I gotcha. Using a controller for arcade air is tough. It may be worth a try going from the "simplified" tab to the "pointer aim" tab. I personally don't fly much arcade HOWEVER I have had a few players use this for arcade flying and that is how they do it. Before you put these controls in the game by default uses the pointer aim with a controller. Also Yes you don't want to mix a plane of a higher br with a low br plane because your highest level battle rating is what you will face I'm a match. Is your goal in the game to mainly play arcade??? If it is then try the pointer aim tab I mentioned if you want to play Air rb then use the simplified tab. Air arcade has no flight model on air planes so pointer aim maybe your best bet with a controller. Flying a plane under simplified will give you much more control over the plane but it takes a lot of work to learn to fly the planes. This control layout is basically based on how a radio controlled air plane flys in real life. Even flying a radio controlled plane take a lot of work and practice. Try the pointer aim tab and let me know how that works for you. With it you will just be steering the plane with the circle on the screen and not have to do anything else. Wherever that circle is the plane just automatically follows it. Sincerely Desode

On the aircraft controls page at the top there are 4 boxes, Pointer aim, simplified ,realistic controls, full real. IF playing RB Air or RB Ground that tab needs switched to simplified. I assume that is what your asking? Sincerely, Desode

@@prestonwilkinson4128 Let me know. The video uses the realistic controls tab because there are more available controls to setup in that area. Even if the tab is switched the controls once put in work under any of the tabs. Each tab I mentioned increases the flight model for all aircraft so you don't want to play ab or rb without using the "simplified" tab. People just don't realize that there are lots of option in the other tabs as used in the video. I can explain all this and how each tab changes things if you want the information. I just got back from a funeral so if I would not reply more tonight I will tomorrow. Today was a long day.

Hmmm,, I'm using them right now, Something has to be out of wack some place. Please double check that you are in the correct tab under controls/Aircraft, Then At the top of the controls list You will see " Mouse aim, Simplified controls, realistic controls, full real controls". You must have the "Realistic controls" tab in that list of 4 Highlighted to see the entire list of the controls used in the video.. Since you are not seeing these that tells me you have to be off on that tab. Please note that If playing RB or AB Air battles, once you have these controls in then Switch it back to the "Simplified controls" tab. Some people miss this, which is understandable. WT has a LOT of hidden controls areas. I am here to always help my viewers and I have been doing so for a long time now. It may take me a bit if I am busy with real life to respond back but I respond to anyone who needs help and is polite about it most of the time in 24hrs or less. Answer to your question is : Deadzone 0.02 Nonliteary 3 Multiplier 1 correction 0. As for deadzone in general, please note that the game has a Built in standardized deadzone.. Though you can tweak with that on. If you want to however,,,,, you can also turn off the game's built in deadzone system completely and dial in each individual stick axis deadzone to get the finest possible movement to match your controllers sticks. That can be time consuming though and a chore. Keep in mind that deadzone varies on every different controller's sticks so this video is just a general best working layout for everyone. Please! also remember to always save your layout once you have everything in from the video and got it all working. Then you can further tweak to your own preference from there on out and if something gets messed up you can reload the base setup from the video. I cannot stress this enough and occasionally when WT has a update and the controls can be reset but if you have them saved you can reload them and not have to put it all back in. Do you know of any full walk through settings for an Xbox controller for aircraft

@@unknown6269 that's what this video does. If using jets though you will have to add a few things to this layout for thie weapons systems. I am a old Sim flyer of prop planes so it doesn't go into jet weapons systems.

@@unknown6269 It will work for all aircraft including jets. You will just have to add other weapons for the jets. I worked with the war thunder development team on xbox controller layout for aircraft and that is how this was created. They even pinned the link to my video on the official game forums.
